Sarah Oxford, E14
I have recurring neck and shoulder problems, and over the last couple of years I’ve had numerous physiotherapy sessions and lots of disturbed nights’ sleep. About 6-7 months ago I bought a book about the Shaw Method of swimming, which is based on the Alexander Technique (AT). It made such a massive improvement to my swimming technique that I decided to try AT lessons too.

So, I gave Michelle a call and have been attending sessions with her ever since. And what a difference! Unlike other forms of therapy, AT (for me at least) seems to be more subtle – concentrating on very small adjustments. This gives the impression that nothing is happening, but for anyone new to AT I would say ‘stick with it’.

Several months later I’ve had only one minor recurrence of my neck problem, which I was quickly able to fix using AT. And going to see Michelle every week is such a treat – I come out of her treatment room quite literally feeling as light as a feather.

I am so convinced by the positive benefits of AT that I’m currently working with our Occupational Health team on a process for referring patients to Michelle.
